Women and youths in Benue State have been empowered with practical vocational skills following a two-day free vocational training organised by Hub 17 Innovation Space in collaboration with Roots Media Initiative, Cheerful Hands Initiative, and Face of FFF.
The training, which took place on 13th and 14th January 2025 at Hub 17 Innovation Space, High Level, Makurdi, brought together participants from different backgrounds with the aim of promoting skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and economic self-reliance.
Speaking during the programme,
organisers, Tamen Kuma, Dr. Shedrack Akpen both of Hub 17 and Onwanyi Ulegede, the Chief Strategist of Roots Media Initiative said the initiative was designed to address youth unemployment and economic vulnerability among women and youth by providing hands-on vocational training and mentorship in a supportive learning environment. Participants were exposed to practical sessions handled by the deft hands of Veronica. The training encouraged innovation, creativity, and sustainable livelihood development.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the organisers, describing the training as timely and impactful, and called for more initiatives of this nature to be sustained across communities in the
state.
The organisers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting community-based empowerment programmes that contribute to inclusive development and long-term economic growth in Benue State. Roots Media Initiative pledged to sponsor starter packs to any of the first 3 participants who voluntarily practiced the skills.
